Privacy policy: YT Music Album Sorter

YT Music Album Sorter is a browser extension that reorders your saved album library on music.youtube.com. This policy describes every piece of data it touches.
What the extension stores
When you run a scan, the extension reads your saved albums from your own YouTube Music library page and keeps a copy in your browser's local extension storage. That copy holds, for each album: its title, artist, cover-art image address, and its YouTube Music link. Alongside the albums it stores the ordering and section headings you create, and your extension settings. If you use the Spotify import, it also stores the Spotify albums the import read and the YouTube Music matches it found.
Where that data goes
The extension has no server, and it sends nothing to the developer. It contains no analytics, no telemetry and no advertising.
Three features send data outside the browser, each only at your request:
- Export saves your library as a JSON file to a location you choose.
- Google Drive sync, if you connect it, writes the same JSON to a hidden app-data folder in your own Google Drive. The permission you grant at Google sign-in covers only that folder. The extension cannot see the rest of your Drive, and nobody but you and Google can see the folder. You can withdraw the permission at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions, and delete the stored data from Drive's settings under Manage apps.
- The Spotify import, if you use it, searches YouTube Music for each album it read from Spotify, and adds the albums you tick to your YouTube Music library. Both go through your own signed-in YouTube Music session, as they would if you searched for and saved the albums yourself.
What the extension reads
The extension runs on music.youtube.com and, if you use the Spotify import, on open.spotify.com.
On music.youtube.com it reads the album grid on your library page and nothing else: no watch history, no account details, no pages outside your library.
On open.spotify.com it reads the list of albums saved in your library and nothing else: no playlists, no listening history, no account details. Permission for that site is optional. It is asked for the first time you click "Read my Spotify library", and never when you install the extension.
Importing albums from Spotify
After reading your saved Spotify albums, the import shows you the YouTube Music match it found for each. Nothing is added until you tick the albums you want and confirm how many. The Spotify albums and their matches stay in this browser and are not included in Google Drive sync.
The extension makes no requests of its own to Spotify. It reads the web player page you are already signed in to, and scrolling that page makes Spotify's own player load more of your library, exactly as it would if you scrolled it yourself.
Your account
The extension never sees your Google credentials. The only change it can make to your YouTube Music account is to add albums you have ticked during a Spotify import. It never removes, reorders or edits anything there. Everything else it does changes only how your saved albums are displayed to you.
Removing your data
Uninstalling the extension deletes its browser storage. Any export file you created remains yours, on your own disk, and you can delete it like any other file. If you connected Google Drive sync, you can delete the copy in your Drive app-data folder from Drive's settings under Manage apps.
Changes
If a future version handles data differently, this policy will be updated before that version is released, with the date above changed to match.
